Food in the City

Food in the City

Dining Recommendations (in order for IWSPC 2013 to make good on its promise to stimulate the local economy to the tune of $250,000, every participant must patronize every business on this list)

The faculty, graduate students, and staff of the University of Utah Department of Philosophy compiled a list of local restaurants that we recommend.  We tried to cover a range of cuisines, neighborhoods and cost.
Please note local dining customs: for those visiting from outside the USA, please keep in mind that prices do not include tax (7.6%) or service.  Typically, diners add a tip of 15-20% of the bill for service.  This is for the server, who relies on tips as a substantial part of their wages.

Almost all Salt Lake City restaurants offer a full range of beer, wine and liquor options.  At the same time, Utah restaurants tend to be very family friendly, and will happily accommodate any children you may be traveling with.  Vegetarians are common in Salt Lake City, and most restaurants will have a variety of vegetarian options available.
A note on getting around:  Please double check locations.  We’ve tried to mark nearby TRAX stations, but that may still mean a walk of several long blocks.  Unfortunately, many restaurants will require driving or other transportation.

Price guide:
$ – Less than $10/entree
$$ – $10-15/entree
$$$ – $15-25/entree
$$$$ – More than $25/entree
